FROG KING

I am the Champion of Bloggers and (maybe also?!) the King of the FROGS?! (http://usclnews.blogspot.com/2008/01/blogger-of-year-award.html)

No, but seriously, folks, I would like to thank all my loyal readers out there, especially the ones who comment and vote in my poll(s)!

But I have to extend a special thank you to one man, without whom my blog would be much less amusing, without whom I never would have "garnered over 80 responses," as Greg gushes so effusively in his announcement of my world-shifting triumph, without whom I never would have won.

I have to say a big,

heart-felt

thank you

to Ilya Krasik

for his entirely inimitable, unfailingly hilarious comments.

Without Ilya, I never could have defeated Bostonblitz.com so convincingly in the USCL Blogger of the Year Award! Thanks, Ilya! I owe you one!

And one last thing I wanted to say....

In your face, Boston

  1. OK, I've calmed down a bit (see http://usclnews.blogspot.com/2008/01/blogger-of-year-award.html#c2189255962353954945)

I still think you and your blog are complete and total FROG poo, but you won, so I congratulate you.

By the way, that $100 could make you the very first Boston Blitz Backer!

  2. For those humor challenged people, I don't really think Elizabeth is frog poo. You have to read the original USCL post and my rantings underneath to know what a "FROG" is.

I think Elizabeth is cat poo.

  3. You're welcome Liz, and since you are so nice and sincere in thanking me for helping you win this distinguished contest, I suggest you mail that check directly to me. Furthemore, i feel compelled to thank you in return for being the object of so many hallarious jokes during the course of 2007 season, my favorite one was about the milage...Boston Blitz knows what I mean.... Without you, the the atmoshere we had at our matches just wouldnt be the same, thank you Liz... Now the only thing I didnt get is the "in your face comment" perhaps you could elaborate....

  4. Ilya, I would send you the check, but I already spent it on champagne. Maybe next time.

The in your face comment... it's just a joke, a little nostalgia for the "I Could Beat Their Reporter" post. It was a joke then too.

But I guess I'm also slightly offended by all these criticisms, on this site, the Boylston Blog, and usclnews.blogspot.com. I feel like I'm reasonably tolerant and thick-skinned in general, but really there's no need for people to randomly start attacking my blog, which I write for my own personal pleasure, just because it won some award they wanted to win.

  5. Liz, you cannot make comments like "in your face Boston", and not expect a reaction... Then giggle like a little girl and say "hehe I was just kidding why is everyone on my case"... And you are wrong: the issue is not with you winning "some stupid award" as you put it, the issue is with the process by which it happened. If the award is supposed to mean something and recognize as well as encourage people to put in quality work it is sad when the voting process resembles a circus.
Furthermore everyone who seems to be satisfied with the outcome justififies the decision not on merit but on the hype.

  6. I wrote the post after Matt Phelps started attacking me.

I didn't call it a "stupid award." I called it "some award."

How is the voting like a circus when every team manager except the two involved got one vote each? Isn't that more like an election?

I think what you refer to as "the hype" is a point several people have made, namely that the quality of a blog *is* its enjoyability. And maybe you can disagree with that, but then you have to offer a convincing argument why objective standards for blogs do exist, rather than just calling the opinion you disagree with by a pejorative name.

  8. ... you may win but you're still a retard.

    :)

    I know, I know. I know.

I tried to address where i was coming from in my latest post over at the USCL blog.

I tried to keep my attcks related to the blog, and not to you personally Elizabeth. The stuff about you not working as hard as others may come across a a direct attack, but I think it's just a reflection of the truth; that's why I used your own words.

Again, sorry if you felt I was attacking you personally.

  9. Congratulations. I didn't realize what a fuss this was going to cause.

I got a chuckle out of the "in your face" comment, especially given the post match celebration for the Blitz.

  10. NY got killed by Boston this year, and Vicary got killed in her only game so in your face comment is very appropriate.
