Dear Jane,
I do not have any money so am sending you this drawing I did of a spider instead. I value the drawing at $233.95 so trust that this settles the matter.
Regards,
David.
the saga continues here
Awesome spider. I'm saving a copy to my hard drive, as even a reproduction will pay for a nice dinner somewhere.
ReplyDeleteJesus I want the last 4 minutes of my life back.
ReplyDeleteThere's also a story out recently that says the "original" spider drawing has been sold on eBay for $15,000. It's reported like a real news story, with quote marks and attributions (including an eBay spokeswoman saying it's a valid, enforceable sale contract). I guess on the Internet it's April 1 365 days a year.
ReplyDeleteThe buyer of the spider drawing should create a textfile of random keystrokes, call it Martian poetry, declare its value at $15,000, and submit it to the seller as payment.

The artist is Valentina Lisitsa, who was born in Ukraine and now lives in North Carolina with her husband. Before Valentina got serious about music, she had wanted to become a professional chess player!

Actually, the buyer of spider-art is now claiming to not not pay the money for the "art work".
ReplyDeleteIt must be true, I saw it on teh web.
Pah! How do I know it's a seven-legged spider and not a seven-legged ant?

Jane, the person trying to collect, made a critical blunder - see if you can spot it:

Dear David, As I have stated, we do not accept drawings in lei of money for accounts outstanding. We accept cheque, bank cheque, money order or cash. Please make a payment this week to avoid incurring any additional fees.
Yours sincerely, Jane Gilles
That's right, she said lei instead of lieu. Claim invalidated!
So, they just want to get lei'ed?
