I will be at the US Chess School in Dallas on my birthday (July 8), so Jonathan made me birthday dinner on Friday.

Your bday dinner looks amazing! I want to eat all of it. yum. happy almost birthday :)
it sucks being inside, around weirdos, concentrating all day in the summertime, but now that I'm not I'm jealous of everyone who is
One of the best things you ever wrote.
Fermented soy protein on skewers! Mmmmmmm!
are u kidding me??
sunlight and normal behavior don't hold a candle to the world open... i've never actually played but I want to next year
Congratulations on your birthday and on your tournament victory!
Share the pie recipe please.
How old is he?
That's a great-looking birthday dinner!
I was looking at my USCF ratings page the other day, and in particular the cool new stats in which they break down one's results by rating of opponent. The thing that struck me the most was how few games I've played since 1991 which are not quick timed games. It's hard to be stuck indoors! Yet I wish I had played more.
It's been unseasonably rainy and not quite so hot in Dallas this weekend. I hope that the heat stays broken during your trip here.
Ha! You do make me laugh!
I was at the World Open (took a bye in the 9th round so as to get home at a reasonable hour). And as much as I love chess in general I did spend a good part of the last 5 days thinking, and not for the first time, what is it about this game that attracts so many freaks? I mean, seriously!
Freaks, Doug? More so than in your average dog beauty contest? And more so than in your average 2nd hand used gun market?

My dog is perfectly normal, thank you very much.

Very funny, and my feelings exactly.
Rick Massimo
thank you!
Jonathan is 36 and I will post the recipe as soon as I get home from Texas.
