So I try to teach kids a variety of openings, plus I switch the repertoire up every few years because I get so bored looking at the same games again and again.... Anyway, some play the sharp Max Lange / Scotch gambit type stuff. The most annoying line for black to play is 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. d4 exd4 5. 0-0 Nxe4
So I wrote a little homework assignment / annotated game /scripted lesson plan / exercise in making a plan. Like the earlier stuff, it'll look ugly if you don't have the linares font. Comments welcome.

After a light skim (without the font) I like the looks of them. I'll probably steal them. :)
You might be interested in a post and the followup I did earlier this month on a Max Lange-ish line:
Part 1
Part 2
The tactical resources that can be found in such positions never ceases to amaze me.
After considering the position, I found the questions you asked were the ones I had already considered and the "solution" was the same move sequence I had picked. I guess that's a good sign that these are the right questions to be asking.
Except, "How could black try to attack white? How could white try to attack black’s king?"
Isn't it enough to answer, "Can Black immediately attack White? Can White immediately attack Black?"
As soon as I answered both in the negative I wanted to focus on the *weaknesses* around each kings and positional factors like the open files, opposite majorities, opposite castling, pawn storms, etc. and less on how to launch unsound king attacks.
Hopefully the audience is <=1500 since I found this easy. I like the formatting you've chosen.
Do you want to mention Nxe4 Nxe4 Qxe4 Bxh2 tactic? It's very basic so it depends on your audience.
Liz,
Do you know roughly what percentage of your students have a computer at home and/or internet access? Do you give them tasks that involve using a computer? Just curious how you approach that.
I've gone through both in more detail and they are excellent! One minor typo in the annotated game:
after 17. cxd3? (17…d4
should be
after 17. cxd3? (17…Nd4
This is great!
Thanks for sharing.
