crazy = Fox

I don't watch Fox News, obviously, but they have this commentator, Glenn Beck, who appears to be just out of control. Watch this video where he calls Obama racist:

"This president has exposed himself as a guy over and over and over again who has a deep-seated hatred for white people ... this guy is, I believe, a racist."

and then, if you share my sense that he is an irresponsible journalist, sign this petition asking companies to withdraw their advertising from his show. thanks.

Would you be equally offended if Keith Olbermann called President Bush a racist?

I think it’s an offensive thing to say regardless of the speaker, but Fox and Glenn Beck seem to make a habit of false and inflammatory speech and childish name-calling, which makes it worse.

thanks Craig!

Bush was no racist. He showed equal disinterest in sub-luxury-class people of all races.

Does Glenn Beck count as a journalist?

He isn't a journalist. He's a right wing propagandist. Fox is the Republican Right Wing agitprop organization.

Chill and let them keep digging their political hole deeper. How many states went for McCain?

I think Joe Everyman is finally getting sick of the Republican Propaganda machine. But I do think it's time for the Democrats to push their advantage for a change instead of trying to compromise with every nutjob in Congress.

I like how even this evening, people are still voting for option 1 on the blog

You claim that Fox and Beck seem to make a habit of false speech. How often do you watch Fox? Do you have cable?

I too think he "may" be a racist. Why would you be a member of a racist church for (20?) years and hire a communist racist as a czar and how about Beergate? As they say "apple doesn't fall far from tree".

Whoopie Goldberg was interviewed in the past week or so on BBC America. She had some interesting things to say about the Rev. Wright. Racist president? No. President who has experienced racism? Yes.

If there's a difference between Glenn Beck and his supporters it may be that at least Glenn Beck is prepared to give his name.

Glenn Beck is an entertainer. He plays to an audience that likes to hear the things that he says. Some may even believe what he says to be true. I'm sure that Beck doesn't believe most of what he says, he just chuckles all the way to the bank.

Glenn Beck's got issues of his own to deal with.

Heh!

Is ejh your first name or your last name?

Calling Glenn Beck an entertainer is like calling Joseph Stalin a gardener.

Mal Content said...

Careful, there, ATH2044, I suspect that Liz and 'ejh' admire Stalin.

Mal Content, are you really that fucking stupid, or do you just have some reason for wanting to seem that way?

If there really is no difference in your head between liberalism and Stalinism -- between believing in liberty, equality, justice, dignity, economic security and human rights, and murdering 20 million potential political opponents -- then get the fuck out of here, because you're too stupid to cross the street by yourself, let alone to post your garbled lizard-brain spew in a public location.

Jesus H. Frozen Christ on a Stick, do twerps like you piss me off. Go masturbate to Glenn Beck's "Common Sense [sic]" until you're too sleepy to bother us.

Whew. Ummm . . . where am I, and why am I only wearing these purple shorts?

Well, I guess it's time for me to be up front. I've been hanging back for a while, but I feel the need to stick up for Glenn somewhat. I have a soft spot for him. A little over the top at times, but really not by that much, from what I've seen.

I read conservative blogs almost exclusively, too. I'm more of a blog reader, not into TV (of course, not having one makes it easy).

Having said that, I suppose many of you will now make a point of playing the most violent gambits you can think of against me if we meet. :)

Oh, no. If you're a conservative blog reader, we'll just count on your being unable to detect when the other side is winning. :-)

By the way, the subjects on which Glenn Beck is an expert include chess.

Dear Tom Panalales,

What a ridiculously retarded comment. The link (and you, with you're BRILLLLLiantly sarcastic text) propagate that Beck claims to be an expert on chess. Let's examine the relevant quotes and break them down real easy-peasy:

"I play chess — poorly, but I play chess."

HOLY CRAP! Is he claiming to be an expert? NO! Is he fully acknowledging that he's NOT an expert? YES!

"And the pawns don't matter. They just don't matter to me."

OMIGOSH! If he saying that pawns don't matter? NO! Is he saying that pawns don't matter TO HIM, SOMEONE WHO PLAYS POORLY? YES!

This is why (most) liberal criticism isn't taken seriously. People like you will look for ANYTHING - no matter how stupid, trivial, or insensible - to use as ammunition for your points. Get a freaking clue.

Elizabeth Vicary said...

I thought Tom’s point was that he tries to talk authoritatively about things he clearly doesn’t understand.
