Congratulations Ms. Spiegel and students, on the story in the Wall Street Journal.

If IS 318 played Hunter in a dual match, Hunter would be expected to win 3-1 and yet IS 318 edged Hunter out on tiebreaks. It was no upset that IS 318 defeated all other high schools in the nation. You are to be commended for exceeding the rating expectations!

Congratulations!!

Why not try for a grant from Google's foundation to help support your team?

(I haven't watched the video, but the caption suggests they might help. They also offer other support to schools and teachers.)

On the web site for the Brooklyn Castle Documentary, click Take Action and you can donate directly to the chess team at IS318!
http://www.brooklyncastle.com/take-action - it's a non-profit so it's a tax write off.

Money, money, money....

I am not sure that right now Hunter would beat IS318 without special preparation, Alec and Alex are very talented players but there are mostly out of chess, although Alex is still playing regularly. And they both do not have regular coaching support for years. Aaron never have a coach and self taught chess player, who is almost inactive for a couple of years.
So I think Justus, James and Isaak would have an edge versus three Hunter A's in current conditions.

And chess means nothing in Hunter, even on school Web-Site there is no any sign of chess team existing. No support, no PR...

But Congrats to John and Elizabeth!
They proved if you take chess really seriously - your results are unlimited!
